Painting two

Orange Tree Painting

Paintings I stupidly bought

I bought these paintings a few years ago now.  Some local artists showed up at my door and asked if I wanted to buy some paintings.  I kinda liked two or three and somewhat feeling sorry for this couple who were supposedly just trying to sell some stuff to buy some more painting material, I bought two paintings.  I think I paid $80 for the pair, so it wasn’t that big a deal, but then I realized it would cost me like $200 to frame each one.  That’s when I got ticked at myself and packed them away.  I may go get them framed which was why I took these pics.  The only reason I put it on the blog was that it seemed to be the easiest way I could find to resize the image as I wanted to email myself a copy…

ok, 1 year later...

hmmmm, what's new in my life...new car, actually 2 new cars...yep, that's about it.

I like this chick though, she makes me feel smrt.

And now for some shameless promotion...

My sister in law has started making jewellery (how the heck do you spell that - jewelry seems to be listed on the internet everywhere, but I always thought it was jewellery - is that a US/Canadian thing?). Anyways - Bridal Jewellery, or Bridal Jewelry...by Moy...she uses Swarovski Crystals to do some simple beadwork designs and they look pretty cool. Very nice inexpensive stuff that you can get for your wedding, or as a gift for all your bridesmaids...check it out...Brides' Jewels by Moy - http://www.bridesjewels.com.

If you don't like jewels and you don't like art (don't forget my niece's site below), maybe you like hard rock bands, check out my brother-in-law's site - http://www.gunpowdertea.net. They have original stuff that the hard rockin' guys apparently like - not exactly my style but I still think it's pretty good. Supposedly "Too Much Ain't Enough" has been getting some airplay (webplay????) on internet radio...you can listen on the website, and actually you can download it right now if you get there before my sister figures out how to restrict the download!

Have fun...

And thanks for shopping at the blog-o-mart!

go buy some art will ya?

I was just perusing my neice's website, which displays some of the art she has done and has for sale. Yes she's my neice, although she's only a year younger than me. Some of her stuff is really good - check it out if you have a minute, then buy some art and help out a hippie chick. Who knows, you might end up with an early work from a future master!

fun with photoshop...

Nothing much going on lately. I'm slowly getting my new computer up and running and I just installed the printer software last night. I noticed that it had a photoshop type of application that came with it so I decided to check it out. I knew I needed to make a birthday invitation for Cole's party in a couple of weeks so I brought up Cole's picture and had some fun with it. This one was pretty funny...

Bobby vs. Bill

Bobby

Bill

Bobby Orr's famous overtime goal.

Did I mention I was bored today. PS - If you want to buy me a present - the picture of this goal is one of my all time faves

Birthday Boy

OK, so it's my birthday. I'm old. I'm at work. I'm sick. The markets are down. I had to write an exam last night, and I have a class tonight. This sucks.

Somebody buy me a present!

Top 10 Hockey Goal Celebrations

There's a bunch of garbage in the beginning, but near the end is the top 10 - Personally, I give the nod to Fleury.

All I want for Christmas...

...is my two front teeth!

Cole lost his other front tooth on November 14th. (not from hockey, but now he looks like a goon!).

Coley the Goalie

Something amazing happened on November 4th.

This is the third year my Son Cole has been playing hockey. Being the diligent hockey dad that I am, I've seen every single game, and I still don't know what it's like to see your son score his first ever goal. I do, however, now know something maybe even sweeter. At this early stage in their hockey careers, kids tend to shift around in positions, and permanent goaltenders are rare. Cole has played goal once in each of his first two years, and if I remember correctly, he won both games. He didn't really pay as much attention as I would have liked, but hey, 2-0 is 2-0, so I can't really complain. This year though, Cole's team DOES have a permanent goalie, Ryan, who is amazing. On November 4th though, his team needed a replacement keeper. Ryan spent some time on the DL, while undergoing a contract dispute - he was traded to another team in the league's rebalancing, but his parents told the league that he wasn't going to report to the other team, so the league said...uh...ok and left him with us - but he was actually out that game anyways as he was sick. Cole had mentioned he wanted to play goalie a few times, so I told the coaches and they put him in. Brilliant move. Cole didn't exactly have the reflexes of a cat, and he had a lot of help from his teammates, but he played well enough to earn a SHUTOUT!!!! He stopped one of the best scorers in the league on three shots and forced him to hit the post another time, and he held the rest of the other team at bay for at least a dozen shots. Shutouts aren't that common in 8 year old hockey, so this was a pretty decent accomplishment and I'm proud of my boy.
